A Hearty "Farty"

Today was scheduled to be an on-again-off-again storm day in Destin, so I checked the radar and suited up for a 2 hour ride in between storms. Riding in Destin isn't the easiest due to the heavily congested US 98 which serves as the main corridor east-west from Pensacola towards Panama City Beach and beyond. I've cobbled together enough back roads to make the journey somewhat safe, but there are times were riding US 98 are just unavoidable.

The wind was coming on off the gulf at a steady 10-15mph so the cross winds were a little tough to navigate. Whenever you were lucky enough to head north, northeast it was downright pleasant. My legs were feeling really good and I found myself tapping out a fairly solid tempo in the 21mph range. At times, I'd crank it up to 24 and other times I'd dally around at 19, but by and large the sweetspot was definitely north of 20mph, which made me feel good.

I continue to feel stronger and stronger and while I'm nowhere near where I was at this time last year, it's all positive. As I rolled back to the condo, I had rolled out a very solid 40 miler in right at 2 hours. Toss in the fact that it was 75 degrees and you've got a hearty "farty."

Farty. That's rich. Every ride I do is a farty ride. Eat beans and give it the gas. Go baby go! Just do not soil your shammy. LOL

Just ask anyone on the ride today...there was some serious boost at times. You just do not want to have the wheel of anyone that is about to use their thruster.
