Wow, that one was a good one! I did not get out to any of the great races that were taking place over the last weekend, but I did manage to race the wind a bit.
I upped the ante a bit over the past week and nearly went all-in in terms of cycling. In previous weeks my training intensity and volume were quite low compared to last week. What can I say? There were a few really good riding opportunities and my family was supportive to the idea of me getting out for some longer rides.
The intensity was really not intentional, but when certain training partners show up, you don't have a choice in the matter. Jason is a strong rider to be sure, but I am talking about the wind. The wind is a great training partner...no other entity can push me as hard to dig so deep during a ride than the wind.
Yesterday the wind was gusting and I swear we only had a tail wind for about 3 minutes. That was a small reward for the other three hours of intervals we did in efforts to stay upright in the torrents. It was a good time, but I guess I am happy to say the wind is finally behind me.
I wonder what lies ahead?
