Geographically disadvantaged

wattage distribution chartYo I was all ready to go with a great story today about how well my training is coming along. Then I see Will's write-up about his assault on Le Saleve, which happens to be just outside his back door. I need a mountain. One with lots of nice roads to the top, none of which are open to cars. Sweet.

You might say I'm geographically at a disadvantage here. From the looks of it the weather in Geneva is a far sight better than here too. I think I need a vacation.

Seriously though, I think I need a vacation.

I think I need a rest too. TSB's been negative for a while now. My legs have lost just about every last bit of snap, crackle and pop they had to give - not that they had that much anyway. Yesterday's soreness didn't go away like I thought it would after a reasonable spin today. In fact, about the time they should have loosened up they instead became tired.

Ah, but there is a silver lining in here. When I downloaded my power data the shape of the power distribution chart caught my eye. It made me wonder if I had any other rides that looked like this one. I went searching.

In a few minutes' quality time with WKO+ I had exactly what I was looking for. I discovered I'd done a very similar ride - nearly the same TSS, duration and distance. Best of all, it had nearly the same power distribution chart.

No, not best of all. The best part is this: On the day I'd done that similar ride in the past nearly all my wattages were lower. The entire distribution chart had shifted to the right between then and now. Not only that, but on that day TSB had been only marginally negative. Today it had been significantly more negative at -17.

Making better watts than I did 6 months ago with sore legs and while tired, it's not as grand as a ride en Les Alpes; but I still feel on top of the world.

Well done on the Wattage

Well done on the Wattage improvements

Thanks for the message. Yes, I think I am pretty lucky too. As I said here once before, I only really became a cycling fanatic once I moved here. You'd love (or maybe hate) the route I descended today. Part of it has about 3 consecutive hair-pinned miles averaging legitimately over 12% with much steeper stretches- it took me two years to have the courage to climb.
