What a great weekend...

Wow, what a rain we got today... Its been raining off and on all day. I've been refined to the road lately, riding the hell out of my Jake. It's been good though, the last few days have been beautiful. As for the rest of the week though, it may be another story.

So today we had our 5th race in the Mid-west fat tire series. The venue: Cosmo Park, Rhetts Run. Unit, you should've come up, it was a pretty good race. It was raining this morning when I headed to Columbia and after checking the radar multiple times, I was sure we were gonna get rained on during the race.

Luckily it didn't. I raced my usual class, Sport 20-29. Me and John L. warmed up and came to the starting line with just minutes to go. I think this was good as I was nice and warmed up.

The start was like most, I decided to go in at 3rd place and hang on for a bit. Well, within a half a mile, the guy in second sprawled his bike out in the middle of the trail after he wrecked. I luckily made it past him without having to bail myself. I quickly caught 1st and rode behind him for the next mile. He was keeping a pretty good pace until the first real creek crossing leading into a very steep rocky uphill. I passed him and from there it was pain and suffering the whole way.

Cosmo's a great place to ride but the hills make the races excruciating. They are short but steep and really leave you breathless. I actually managed to catch John Langworthy, Red-Wheel Expert racer, but he passed me again quickly and I could never regain.

Long story short, I managed to push myself to the limit again, and it paid off. This was my second win. Back to back, and I'm damn happy. The first three races of the year I had problems due to wrecking and mechanicals but the last two races have been great.

Whats even more better? I have three weeks off from racing! This next week is rest and recovery and it's gonna be nice. I've really been putting it to it even though the weather has been shit. Oh by the way, second was Nick Calkins at around 3 minutes behind me. Nicks been riding strong this year, even though he trys to say he goes into every race at a "Group Ride Pace."

Rock star

Dude you're a freakin' rock star.

Keep riding like that and everyone lining up at any race will be looking around to see if you're there.

I want to know what you're doing for training. No, wait. I don't want to know. I don't want to know because I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it.

We'll you might be suprised...

Really, to tell you the truth, you're probably doing more training than I am. From what I've been reading in your blogs you've been doing quit a bit of riding. Me, well I've been riding the road quit a bit. Really my whole training goal is to ride as much as possible. Two to three mtb rides per week, some around an hour and half, usually 1 at about 2 to 3 hours. And then a few days on the road. I've been doing some hill intervals but after yesterday I've decided I need more. No trainer, which I see you're still doing. Some lifting of the upper body, (not that it matters), and usually a day of running.

So there you have it, my training in a nutshell. I do need to get a bit more specific in my training as I can see that I need work on the hills.

Any suggestions?

Suggestions?

Suggestions? Sure. Keep doing what you're doing.

I should be taking suggestions from you because you're obviously doing something right. Let's see, you have 2 wins under your belt this season so far. Me, in my best finish so far this season I tied for 15th.

I thought about it...

I did want to go and possibly race, but I woke up with a bit of a stomach bug. I managed to mow the lawn, but was otherwise laying around staying close to a crapper all day.

Big props on your win, man!
