Pre-Race Ride

So a group of 8 or so of us gathered tonight to do a little pre-race timed ride. We only did one lap and my results were quite pleasing to say the least.

I did a little 10 minute warmup but then had to wait around another 20 minutes to start. So basically it was a cold start. Nick said go and off the bat John L and I took to the front. I didnt want to push it full throttle tonight because it was still going to be the fastest I've ridden since the injury. Things were going awesome until 5 minutes into the ride my chain popped off. This let John get a gap and I didnt end up catching him at all. I felt pretty good, a little tired from all the riding this week. 20 minutes into it my chain dropped again. We decided at the end it's most likely a bent chainring. John boy finish at 28 minutes and 40 seconds and I finshed 30 minutes and 14 seconds. Not bad considering I was only going 80 perecent and I had to stop and put my chain on twice.

My gear was a little to easy and I found myself coasting and spinning out quit easily. My new bike came in today but it will be Saturday before I can pick it up. My plans are to go ride for about and 1 and half saturday on it. I'll know within the first 15 minutes whether I want to race it or not. I think it would be nice to have some gears and a chain that wont pop off 8 times during the race. If I dont feel 100 percent comfortable on it I'll stop and ride the Rockhard. I'm going to try to bend the chainring straight tommorow.

Afterwards my buddies and I rode Rainbow and we called it quits. Not a bad night of riding, I'm just stoked at the time I threw down. Without the chain dropping I would have come in at around 28 minutes which is an expert time and if I can hold 3 laps at sub 30 minutes I should be able to win. Last year the lap times were alittle over 30 minutes averaged. BUT like I said earlier I dont plan on going into this race to win it. Just ride like I did tonight and see how it pans out. Tonight was the seventh straight day riding and a rest day tommorow is a must. Next week I plan on doing a full week of recovery with very little riding exept for a race on Sunday. And then it's off to Colorado the following week. YIPPEEE!!!
