Product Reviews - ReviewMe.com

From time to time on of the bloggers here on Two Wheel Blogs may choose to do a product review. Bloggers are encouraged to try out products and services which cyclists would find of use and to relate their experience with these products to the entire community.

We recognize the possibility that a product manufacturer or service provider may offer a blogger an incentive to review their product. As a blogger, you should understand that this site, TwoWheelBlogs.com, has no objections to this practice whatsoever. At some point within each product review, we strongly encourage our bloggers to state whether he or she is receiving any form of compensation for the review.

Bear in mind that as a blogger your credibility is your best asset when it comes to building and maintaining a following of readers. Your readers will reward you with their loyalty as long as they know you are straight with them. If your readers feel you are too biased in your product reviews you will lose credibility and your readers will lose their faith in what you have to say.

Please ensure that the person or company asking you to review their product or service knows you will be fair and unbiased in your review.

Now, we all know that paid reviews are a fact of life. We don't like the idea of being sold to without our knowledge. We suspect you are a lot like us in this respect. Those who blog here are among the brightest and most well-respected individuals in their cycling pursuits. Each has his or her own strengths. Each puts considerable time and effort into cycling, and then invests even more time and effort to relate their personal experiences to their readers. We feel they should not be denied compensation for their time and effort.

There are companies in business today who serve as intermediaries between companies and individuals who offer products and services, and bloggers who offer to write product reviews in exchange for compensation. Bloggers at TwoWheelBlogs.com may, at their own discretion, work with one or more of these companies.

Rather than flatly refusing to allow paid reviews, we believe the best course is to open the door to paid reviews in a responsible manner. We have investigated and reviewed several paid blogging services to better understand how these services operate and more importantly how they work to build integrity into the system of paid reviews.

ReviewMe.com's review writing policies are very similar to those of TwoWheelBlogs.com. Bloggers are asked to provide complete, fair and unbiased reviews, and to state clearly within the review that the review has been written in exchange for some form of compensation. Compensation terms are provided up front, and there is no expectation or requirement of a positive review. ReviewMe.com believes a fair and unbiased review is the best kind of review. We like this policy. We think it is the only sustainable business model which accomplishes the following three things:

  1. It supports our bloggers as individuals who rightfully can command some form of compensation for their time
  2. It allows product and service manufacturers to find reviewers for their products
  3. It retains integrity throughout the entire process
