There it is people. My first real honest-to-goodness 2x20 interval session of the 2008 season. Well sort of. The intervals aren't all that well executed. But as they say, it's the thought that counts.
I didn't start out planning to do 2x20 intervals today. That's why the first one starts out so lame and slowly builds into a proper wattage. Then again, you could just say I negative split them. Yeah, I think I'll go with that.
Truth is I didn't even start out planning to ride an hour on the trainer. I just didn't really feel like it. My legs were a bit sore and stiff from yesterday. Plus tomorrow's supposed to be nice. If it is, so my logic went, it'd be nice to have a little freshness in the legs to help celebrate the great outdoors-ness of it all. Bottom line, I was having a hard time talking myself into doing something that requires any real commitment.
I really thought I'd take a slack day. I set my sights on just doing a couple of 15 minute intervals. Warm up. Two quick ones. Cool down. Done. Simple and quick. Ah, but when I got to the end of the first 15 minutes I felt good enough to push on for the 2x20 intervals.

Tomorrow? We'll deal with tomorrow when tomorrow comes.
that seems a pretty short
that seems a pretty short break between the two sets?
KUDOs, intervals on the trainer now will pay benefits when your weather turns.
Just a minute
A minute's break is all that's needed on long intervals like these.
Look at it this way, if you're suffering so badly at the end of a 20 minute interval that you need more than a minute to recover for the next one, then you won't make the next one. Or at least you won't make the next one at the same intensity level.
