A couple of days ago I woke up feeling like I hadn't slept in a week. I'd been shivering cold and sweating all night; and as much as my body ached, my head was worse.
The first decision I had to make was easy: Work or no work. No question there, I didn't even have the energy to sit at a desk. My second decision - whether to seek professional medical help or not took care of itself with a simple phone call.
My Doctor's office: Good morning. How may I help you?
ME: I'm sick.
My Doctor's office: Do you have a fever?
ME: Yes, and aspirin seems to be helping.
MDO: Chills?
ME: Yes
MDO: Body aches? headache?
ME: Yes. Yes.
MDO: Do you have a cough?
ME: Yes, but nothing comes up but bad taste.
MDO: You have the flu.
ME: But I had a flu shot.
MDO: Well it turns out that doesn't matter much this year. Go back to bed. Eat and drink a lot. Sleep if you can. Take aspirin or any of the popular cold and flu medicines. You'll feel better in a week.
The sun is out this morning. It's chilly now, but it's supposed to warm into the mid 50's by this afternoon. I've been waiting all year for this day to come. I didn't plan to celebrate it quite like this.
Yeah...I hear that a lot.
2008 is stacking up to be one of the sickest years in history. I, my co-workers, and my family have all been bouncing along the bottom hopping from one form to the next. There are about 5 strains of the flu and apparently none are phased by the flu shots everyone got.
Sinus infections are popular also...may be that has something to do with all the temp fluctuations?
Get well...there will be plenty of nice weather later..when you feel better.
It's going around
It's going around these days. Noone is safe from it. Get well. You'll be back in the thick of it again soon.
