I had a great weekend. As is typical with holidays, I now return to work very much in need of a break.
I suppose normal people lay back and relax on holidays, but cyclists are not normal. We instead seize the opportunity to pack in more sprinting, climbing, tempo, you-name-it.
The past three days of riding has me feeling great. I am recharged and ready to return to work, but tired and content to take a break from the bike after completing a nice peak in the program.
I guess a big block of training is like a really big steep rough hill. It may be gut wrenching at the time, but once you get over it, you can be content that it is behind you. As a bonus, next time perhaps that hill will feel easier than this time was.
One of these days perhaps I will take a big vacation from work and find some truly spectacular rides. There I go again, dreaming of time off work to really make make myself hurt.
I suppose tonight I will do a nice core workout.

I think the same thing about riding and working. However, I'm at the tail end of a big build phase and this week will be hell. Once I get through this week, I can take a little recovery time and re-focus.
Coasting
It may help to remember that once you get through your block, you have a little coasting time to look forward to.
For me, that always helps to remember the spoils of victory awaiting me. A big climb pays reward with a ripping descent. I grueling block affords me some great food (with few limitations) and some guilt-free relaxation.
