Double dose

Today has been a good day by most standards. This weekend, for that matter, has been pretty darn good.

Saturday was one seriously long day but we got a lot accomplished. Unfortunately all the other stuff that I choose to call "cross training" left me completely consumed and it was impossible to ride.

Today was different. I got a lot of good stuff done and got some riding in! I managed to ride the rollers as my wife spun on the trainer next to me. It is fun when you have a good training partner.

If a good workout on the rollers was not enough I got in an outdoor tide too. My oldest son wanted me to play outside with him and I wanted too but none of our toys seemed very interesting. He suggested bicycles, and that was that. We rode in front of the house for a while then I suggested we ride to my folks house (may be a mile away but none of it is flat).

We made pretty good time considering we were both rolling singlespeeds. I gotta report more than a little pride in his ability to pull the hills too. Ben ground up some steep grades...but we had to hoof a few. Not bad for an 8 year old on a 30 pound bike! Another fun time resulting from having the right training partner.

I can't help but wonder when he'll be riding you off his wheel on those climbs. :) That will be a proud day for dad.
