For a very brief moment in time I actually considered racing this weekend. I'm no crit guy though. I've done a couple. They're OK. But just about everything you can do on a bike gets a passing grade of OK in my book. My preferences lean toward the kind of riding that hurts for long periods of time, rather than only for a few seconds coming out of corners.

That's why I jumped at the invitation earlier this week to join a small group of guys (As we rolled out it was just three of us.) for the Covered Bridge Ride. I'd never done this ride before. How could I pass on a chance to have someone show me the route?

Fifty-one miles from start to finish. Some of it is flat, but not much. The best part is a 25 or so minute long section just after half way with three really nice climbs. I don't even need to check my logs. The first climb is the longest I've done this year. I especially liked this section because it was the only place I could gap Boz.

He's riding strong. Time after time I'd get on the front and put my head down. Sometimes I'd get a little gap, but after a while I'd look back and there'd be Boz. He's a locomotive.

In all I logged well over 200 TSS on the day. Not a bad way to start out a 3-day weekend. In fact that's about 3 days' worth of riding for me, the way things have been going lately. All the same, I'm still thinking I'll be able to drag myself out of bed early in the morning for some more aero testing.
