Sounds like a pretty good bike over all. It would be a real surprise if any production bike would do exceptionally well on the trails around here...think about it...there are a lot of different rides across this country of ours. When you can offer one bike for the whole country, you gotta try to split down the middle...sounds like Jamis did a great job of this.
Now, if you want something that is made for these trails in the western mid-west, you have to tune one up yourself. Time to study up on the parts you are going to need to make that happen...
As far as frame geometry goes....that is going to be tough for you to find in a production frame (especially considering your dimensions)....you might be well served to find a good custom builder.
