Coming back after a long layoff

Let's see, I think it was sometime in late March when I last rode my bike for any length of time. How long is that? Long enough. Too long.

I went back to the doctor the other day. I think he was reasonably pleased with my progress. He gave me the OK to start strength and flexibility work for my neck and shoulders. He also said I could work up to riding my bike again.

He said he wanted me to ride indoors only for a couple of weeks. He said I'd understand once I started the neck and shoulder conditioning work. He was right. I'm sore after only a couple of sessions. But that hasn't stopped me from starting back on the bike.

I now have a grand total of two indoor sessions in my legs - a little over an hour total. That's 2 half-hour workouts. Both were done at about what I'd call a 3 hour pace. I have a long way to go to get fit again.

But in a couple of weeks I'll be OK for riding for real. Needless to say I'm really looking forward to that.

Great news (again)

It is good to hear that you will be outside on the bike again soon. May be you will be in my neck of the woods about the time you are ready to roll out?

Keep up those neck exercises and lets get out and ride when you are ready!

Hard to say no

Possibly, though with the awesome weather we're having here right now it's hard to hold the line. I see my poor bike over there just aching to be ridden. It's getting really hard to say no.
