Unit happened to be in town today. He was playing the role of chauffeur. Or airport shuttle driver, whichever you prefer. Lucky for me, he had the presence of mind to bring his bike.
He called me up and asked me to put together something fun. "How's about a coffee shop ride?" I asked.
"Sounds fine to me. How far is it to the coffee shop?"
"Depends on how much time you have."
"I got a couple of hours, I suppose."
"Then it's about 37 miles."
"Sounds good. See you in a little while"
180+ TSS later, that coffee really tasted good.

It is amazing how photographs make everything look so flat. That chip-n-seal stretch looks like a flat section or perhaps even down hill (I recall it differently than it appears in the photo).
It was a fun ride today. I hope to do that route again in the future...perhaps a longer version of it. Especially if we can get weather as great as we had today!
Directions to the coffee shop
There are plenty of roads to choose from, so it wouldn't be a tough trick to make it a little longer.
The real trick is in not wanting, or expecting to have, your coffee right away. I tend to take the long way to the coffee shop
Unit - yep Photos flatten things
I have photos of NASTY roads that look strangely downhill. weird.
One tip from someone that loves to take photos of steep roads is to try and snap at hairpins.
the contrast of the up and down road increases the perception of steepness.
Yeah, well..
The roads on this route that he selected had no hairpins, they all went straight up the grade thus maximizing the pain.
I am sure that you have some wonderful pics. Our "hills" and yours are in different leagues though. I would love to try some of the ones you ride! That said, I am not sure you ever ride "hills".
