I can just never leave well enough alone. OK I promise this will be the last one. No wait, the next to the last one. Only one more photo after this.
It's an action shot. I'd just cleared check point one at the Ouachita Challenge and I was pretty darned proud of it. So proud in fact that I took a photo of the purple zip tie they give everyone who emerges from the woods with an Ouachita Challenge race plate on their bicycle. It took some doing, but I managed to get a snap of the purple zip tie, the bicycle and the Ouachita Challenge race plate - or at least parts of them.
No question it's my bike, right? How many Karate Monkeys with Mary Bars rode the Ouachita Challenge this year?
I really love this sport, the MTB side of it especially, where configurations like Mary Bars on Karate Monkeys aren't a dime a dozen. My road bike has 3 silver cable housings and one full-length black housing that bypasses the cable guides. I think people get secretly pissed off that I do things like that.
But we were talking about the Ouachita Challenge here, weren't we?
Purple zip tie firmly affixed, I checked my watch and figured I wouldn't be done in time to have a nice relaxing lunch somewhere. My wife had made me some granola/protein/energy bar things. I unwrapped one of them and ate it. It's amazing how a dry, bland recipe she found on the Internet somewhere could taste so dry and bland even as hungry as I was at the time.
No, that's not comment on her cooking. It was a crappy recipe but how do you know until you try it? Plus she improved them considerably by dipping them in chocolate - white and dark. Good save.
