So, let me get this straight. The leader attacks, the group responds, the leader subsequently has a mechanical, and the remaining riders kept on going? What's the big deal? I like Andy Schleck a lot, but what's the basis for pulling over to the side of the road just because the leader has a mishap.

Another confession from the pro peloton. Floyd Landis is the latest soldier to fall on his sword, but not before he swung at some of his comrades. Shocking? Not really, just the final nail in the coffin of professional cycling as far as I'm concerned.

This week has included a lot of activities and a quite a bit of riding. While I'm a match for no one, my plans to ride and have fun continue to blossom. I'm feeling better on the bike and getting more comfortable with who I am and what I represent.

It's Been a Nice Run...

but sadly, it's over. I have decided to retire from any form of competitive cycling. I will keep 1 road bike and 1 mountain bike, but I really think you'll never see me on a bike again. The sport is too fickle, too time consuming, and just not fun.

Where am I headed, what's next? Who cares? Maybe I'll take up golf again. Now, where did I put those 38" slacks???

Off the Grid

My last update here roughly 1 month ago and the theme of my comments were what's around the bend for me in 2010. I mentioned that I'm really just enjoying being around the family and connected to the off-road scene whether it's racing or riding with buddies. Nothing has changed in the 30+ days since my last post, well, almost nothing.

So What's Next?

I've spent the last couple of weeks pondering. Thinking about ideas of where the road (or trail) may be leading me and what lies around the bend. Could it be more racing? Just riding around? Maybe it's a triathlon or even an adventure race? Does my heart yearn for the wide open, seemingly endless roads of ultra-cycling and brevets? Who knows?
