One more down. I realized yesterday during my training session that this interval, this ride, this day was one more that I will not get back. It was a good one and I did not squander it. So there are no regrets.
I can not go out and kill it every day on the bike. My body can not handle it (no one can), but when I can I try to keep sight of those facts. Each day is an opportunity, so I try not to let myself down by falling short of my goals. Yesterday I think I succeeded, or at least my sore legs tell me that I did.
There are only so many days of summer, and even fewer that hold weather that is conducive to training legs without also training your lungs to extract oxygen from hot humid air. Yesterday was one of those days.
I did LT intervals (based on PE), but it really did not work too well because I went a little too hard. I figured this was a good thing for a couple reasons (learning how to pace, learning to deal with pain, learning to recover while still pushing). It is always good to learn more about these things. I think it is also important to keep a positive attitude.
Every ride is a good ride...if you make it that way.
