The weather here is silly. This time of year it is even worse. One day it is tolerable, the next it is raining, then the next is freezing, and the forecast may be mid-60s. I have learned to take what I get and try to make the best of it.
Yesterday it was dreary and overcast. It looked like rain or snow could start any time, but the temps stayed in the non-stupid range. So I jumped on and rolled out.
As it turns out the wind was harsh, and had some nip to it, but it was better than another day in the garage on a bike that goes nowhere. Unfortunately, that is what I am going to have to do today (it is raining pretty hard outside and they are again calling for snow).
Nothing much to report about the ride, other than an interesting race I found myself involved in. This rural route mail carrier stopping every mile or so to drop the mail at the farm houses I was passing. This guy seemed determined to try to stay ahead of me. Once he even laid rubber to drop me as I approached...I guess he did not want me getting his wheel. We reached a new development where some farmer must have sold the property to a contractor and now houses are popping up like mushrooms....so I won the race.
It is an odd time of year, you have to look a little harder for training motivation. Racing a mail carrier seemed like the right thing to do yesterday.
