That was one long week.
Actually it's been well over a week; but the first bunch of days after my crash the week before last were the absolute longest days of my life. Bar none.
Trust me on this, it's really hard to sit still when fitness is on the rise and your body expects work. But sitting still is just about all you can do when you've got bandages everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. Both hands, elbows, knees, hips, my back, and one shoulder. Only the left shoulder was spared.
We counted up 23 separate wounds. Let's go ahead and count my still-aching and swollen right hand and wrist. That makes it an even 2 dozen.
The real pain of it all has been the hands and elbows. Those injuries had been preventing me from leaning on handle bars or on aero bars. I managed to get out yesterday though, on my TT bike. I used a towel for extra padding and was able to get in a solid hour. Good work.
That workout, such as it was, left me a huge benefit. I finally slept well last night. Maybe now I can start to rebuild fitness.
