What a difference a year makes. This time last year I was struggling through my workouts barely able to complete a single hour at a decent base-building power level. This year's a completely different story.
Maybe it's the consistently bad weather we've had the last month or so. It's been awful, and I've been forced to stay indoors. Day after day the choices for cycling have been limited to two choices: trainer or rollers.
And maybe the lack of choice has been a good thing. When the weather's fine it's easy to go out and pretend it's spring. In other words, it's hard to rein it in and stick to the plan.
Lack of choice has me right where I ought to be this time of year. I do my 60-90 minute workout and I'm done. Ready to rest and recover for the next time. Bad winter weather's not such a bad thing after all.
