Anything worth having is worth having in quantity. Bikes, tires, tubes, shoes, bibs, jerseys... Even air. Meet my own private air force for 2008. Ready for battle
I hope I won't need to call on them. Or if I do it's to help someone else like I did last week. It's not that I mind fixing flats all that much, or that I have trouble with it. I just don't like the interruption. Know what I mean?
The perfect time to have a mechanical is right as you're unclipping as you roll up to your destination at the end of your ride. You gave it your all, and so did your bike.

And here's something else I bet you get more than all those SUV driving, credit card carrying people out there. When your ride's interrupted by a mechanical - and it does happen to all of us at some point or other - how about that feeling you get from knowing you can fix it and get yourself back on your way? Yeah, you know the one I mean.

I went to the LBS yesterday and bought a few bottles myself. I knew that I needed to have a few spares for this weekend (since I too was out).
I have typically purchased in large quantity. It is amazing how fast they go when you do that. I know that I tend to whip them out and give them away trailside during time of need (like a politician distributing handshakes). It is a nice feeling to help a rider out...and it gets ME back rolling again quickly too. Call that a win win. I think I have better intentions than the politician too.
