I woke up this morning really wanting to ride. That is something new. I have been riding a bit lately, but I can not recall the last time I woke up wanting to head straight out and ride.
I rolled out early so I would have time to stop at the local coffee shop for a cup of sprinters-jump, and had some small talk with the shop owner. Great people! They roast some mean bean too.

Yeah, old picture, but it is from the same coffee shop. It also seems really appropriate since I scored a mega-sunburn today.
So, a bit later I am rolling again. It was quite a hot morning, and the humidity was high. I guess this brought the reptiles out, because the snakes, lizards, and turtles were everywhere. After reading G's post from the other day, I have been looking for a reason to re-post this photo. Again, it is an old photo, but I like it.

A short ride later and I was at the club ride meeting spot. Not sure who was going to show (last Tuesday, none showed and I rode solo again). Today was a great turn out. We had lots of talent too (there is a budding champion among our community). This area has always had a lot of really strong Junior racers, but I had no idea I lived amongst some nationally ranked teens!
I think I may have found a buyer for one of my bikes too! I have been reducing inventory lately...I got a bike back that was on loan, so it has got to go! The goal is to get the stable down to a respectable size so that there are no bikes that do not see regular action.
Road riding is tough for me to Blog about. It is rare that much happens that is exciting or note-worthy (especially since I do not allow electronics on my bike anymore). So like most road rides for me, today was uneventful in a good way. Everyone seemed to have a good time, and there was some spirited riding.
I classify my riding based on feel and gears. Sometimes I even pay attention to time and what I guess my route distance was. Today I used only feel and gears. I felt great, and several times I was spinning a 53x11...that sort of speed always feels good!
We pulled some great pace lines, and I had a few moments where my Joe started kicking in, so I kicked the pace. It is really fun to blow out the cobwebs with some of these strong riders.
The best parts of the club rides are the stories. We have a diverse bunch here, and some of the stories get pretty interesting. I think ride stories are best left on the road though...come join us and you can hear some!
What teens?
I'd be interested in hearing who these "budding" champs are? I need to get down to do a group ride with you all. The Jake always welcomes stiff competition.
