It's early Wednesday morning. I've probably missed my only opportunity to ride today. The 4am-6am window is now closed. Festivities ran just a little too long last night, preventing me from answering that call.
Meetings start in about half an hour. The day won't be over until after dinner, at which time I'll be spent. I'm the MC for this twice annual get-together. I know from experience at the end of the day the bottom will fall out. Ah well, that's business.
So no riding for me today. I'm not too concerned about it though. My training has been going well lately. How well, you ask? Pretty darned well, actually.
I've come back completely from the string of cold/flu/respiratory whatever it was I kept getting and couldn't get rid of. I think it was just last weekend when I finally managed to go a whole day with no fits of coughing.
My back problems appear to be largely in the past. Every once in a while I get a little reminder; but as long as I remember to think about how I'm sitting on and pedaling the bike, all is well.
And best of all, I'm finally achieving wattages matching, and even exceeding, those of 2 years ago when all my back problems started. In fact, recent performance points to a higher FTP. I am now, after two long years, once again into uncharted territory with my Functional Threshold Power.
Take a day off the bike? Sure, why not. There's a lot to celebrate.
Would you believe
I have my sore throat back.
I am planning to ride today in spite of it. It is only a slight nag and I figure a light day on the bike will not compound things.
Above The Neck
Your good, below and it's best not to ride. The throat though is a touch thing, but as long as I can breath normal I'll go out and hit it. When it comes to chest colds though, I never ride. Too bad I haven't had to worry about that this year though!
yeah, well...
So much for planning. Now that it is raining and getting colder, it seems like a better idea to not go for a ride.
I still have a lot to smile about though...even though I can not get out and ride.
Go somewhere warm
What you need is to get out of this cold and wet weather. Go find yourself a nice and warm place to enjoy a few days' rest. That should take care of that sore throat in no time.
Get well soon.
Good advice.
Good idea.
I woke up this morning and took the day off work. I was planning a nice long road ride (my plans got changed earlier this week, so my morning plans were open). It is a little chilly here (no big deal), but the rain will keep me off the bike for another day.
I definately need to find a place with better weather.
