700 club

Sweet! Today I'm somewhere I haven't been in a while - the 700 club. TSS, that is. A little bit over a hundred a day - on average - for the last seven days. I'd have to go back quite a long time to find the last time I managed that trick.

Being out of town on travel turned last week into a fairly light week. TSB went nicely positive, so you might say I hit the ground running this week. And you all thought I wasn't riding just because I wasn't posting. Never happen. Never!

Here's how the week went down:

Sunday - Recovery. Needed that bad after those two days chasing Unit around on the trails.
Monday - Tempo. Stretch out those legs. Ease 'em back into the idea of doing some work.
Tuesday - Hammered some hills. That was a good workout. The top 60 minutes were worth 100.5 TSS.
Wednesday - Steady state L5. You better believe that hurt after those hills.
Thursday - A little recovery, plus some core strength stuff. Can't neglect that stuff, but boy did it make me sore.
Friday - A short tempo ride.
Saturday - Sweet spot, but the hills pushed VI to 1.13. IF for the ride came in at a respectable 0.903, which sort of surprised me given how rough the week's been.

Training is going well. When does the season start?

Oh, and in case you're interested, here's a picture of my ride today:
Today's sweet spot ride

It might not look sweet, but on average, that's exactly how it works out.

That is some respectable riding. I do not recall many weeks over 700 from the days when I rode with a PM...and when I rode more than 3-4 times a week.

I am trying to muster the energy to go out for a ride today...but I am not sure if it will happen. The kids have parties to attend, and my riding/training partner (G-wiz) is out for a while...oh you did not hear the news?

Yeah, it seems he suffered a pretty major crash on Friday. No, it does not sound like he was doing anything stupid (or even interesting)...he was just descending a hill at high speed when his third (count them...three) Jamis frame went tits up and dumped him on his head.

Pictures are coming our way soon...but it sounds like the head tube broke away from the rest of the frame....it has got to be a bad feeling when the only connection between your front wheel and rear wheel is your body. I hate to snap to any judgments but it seems that Jamis frames are not doing well for G.
