2010 season starts

The local tuesday training crits started today in Dallas. Based on my poor conditioning right now I decided on the C race with a couple of new teammates from the ICCC Dallas spoke. The course is a flat 3 corner, one sweeper course with a couple of "bad pave" sections just to keep you awake.

The c race is actually a 4/5 race this year, and the b is a 3/4, So unlike the STL C, the pace was pretty crisp. I was working the interval off the back thing, when I couldnt catch back on going into a headwind on the backside. Legs just weren't there, so I sat up and let em come around so I could get the feel of riding in the group again. With a half lap to go, I floated off the back waiting for the inevitable, and going into turn 3 one of the guys got to hot in the corner and toasted a set of wheels into the curb and dove for the grass. Never fails, the less experienced riders fail to compensate for the higher last lap speeds and end up in the hay.

Never got any hrm/speed data, as it was sitting in the apartment and never really got a chance to warmup because first day reg takes longer. Long hours at work are probably also taking their toll as well. I have to remember that this is the longest that i have been away from racing for 5 years(6 months since gateway cup, and about 10 rides), so I'm learning to be patient so I don't become a patient.

Beats sitting on the couch.

That it does. Sounds like a pretty exciting race scene there. How big are the fields?

and not to worry, the form will come.

we had about 45 in the c race. My teammate reported that we were riding at 24.5 mph with plenty of attacks off the front. The fields are pretty big and the 4/5 and 4 fill up fast. We had 220 riders out for 20k TT last saturday on top of a crit that was 10 miles away and a RR on Sunday.

Good to hear you're getting connected and rolling with the ICCC-TX boys. You'll be a solid addition to them (as will Tyler.) I hate to see you guys leave just as we were getting to know each other and ride together from time to time.

Knock 'em dead later in the season.
