All I can say about yesterday is "what a day". Yesterday was the day we've all been waiting for around these parts - the first day of spring weather.
Needless to say I took full advantage of it.
I had a full slate of "gotta do's" in the morning, but by the middle of the afternoon there was no stopping me. I loaded up the Karate Monkey for a bit of trail action.
And action was what I got, about 3 hours' worth. Just what I needed to get my head right for the Ouachita Challenge. I don't think I've ever attempted to ride my Karate Monkey that long before. But three hours will be just the start for me and the rest of the guys I'll be riding with. Three hours... I want to sing that Gilligan song.
It took me about 45 minutes to start feeling good yesterday. Between that time and about the 2 hour mark I was golden. But at around 2 hours the wheels started to come off. My riding got sloppy. Every bump rattled my bones or stopped me cold. I'd forgotten to eat. Live and learn. A quick bite and I was good to go again.
Mental note for the Ouachita Challenge: Eat early and often.
