Recovery from not riding

That felt good. First time on the bike this weekend. I have to say, it was long overdue. We've had a run of great weather here lately that has kept me off the bike. It's been cooler and drier. I used the run of decent weather to put a wrap on the heavy lifting part of the backyard project for the fall. In the last couple of days I mowed and raked the entire back yard. By raking, I mean the garden rake variety; the kind that causes back pain and blisters. I seeded and fertilized, and then top dressed - the icing on the cake. Not that much work really; if you're counting hours. Recovery will take me days.

And what better way to recover than on the bike? I haven't downloaded the SRM file yet. When I do I expect it'll show really low wattages and slow speeds. With the exception of a couple of hills, I really slacked off out there this afternoon. Even though I could have, I didn't want to push myself to go hard. My legs have it; but the rest of the system's energy level is just too low. This little recovery session gave my legs a chance to do a little - they needed that - and bled off excess energies that might have prevented a decent night's sleep.

Tomorrow's a holiday. I haven't decided what sort of riding to do yet. I'll save that for the morning when I find out how much my humus and manure hauling muscles have recovered.
