Plenty good, all of it

What a weekend. I had plenty of pent up demand for riding after last week's trip to London and back. The weather was stellar. About the only thing that could get in my way might be a little jet lag. I figured if I could ride in 14°F temperatures I can ride feeling sort of crappy.

In between my never-ending landscaping project and the other weekend chores I managed about 2½ hours of road action on Saturday and a nice Greensfelder hammer session today. Combined with the 4+ hours of digging, raking and hoeing, I think I must have set a record for weekend TSS here.

I wish I'd had my camera along with me today. I met some beasties while out on the trail. Horses, to be specific. They really are good looking beasts. I do wish the people who owned them would just be happy sitting on their porches with Mint Juleps, rather than riding them. I think the ponies would probably be happier doing whatever ponies do out in the yard on perfect days like this.

I'd have liked to have a photo or two of the ones I saw today. They looked really expensive. Do you imagine people who ride horses look at other people's horses the way we all look at each other's bikes?

If I'd had my camera I'd probably have taken a photo of Jens too. With Eva, of course. Jens is Eva's 5 month old son. When I finished my ride, Eva and Jens were sitting near the trail head waiting for Daddy to return from his ride.

Eva appeared to be waiting patiently; but I'm sure it was a tough wait. See, when Daddy returned then it would be Eva's turn to ride. That explained the Kona I spied on the roof rack at the end of the parking lot. The one with the front wheel propped up beside the car and no rider in sight.

I don't know, is there anything better than parents taking turns Jens-sitting trailside while the other gets a needed dose of trail time?
