A good workout on a great day. And it beat the hell out of working on a Monday afternoon.
How could I resist? A beautiful day. Full-on sun, temps in the mid-70's (I think I saw 26°C - perfect!)... a bit windy but hey, it's early March for goodness sakes.
Stats:
Road Total ride time: 2½ hours. TSS: 192 NP: 0.90 Good, solid threshold stuff. Sweet spot all the way.
Yesterday's recovery ride was no doubt helpful. My legs felt fresh starting out. Twenty minutes in I could feel they weren't fresh. At about 45 minutes - right on schedule - suddenly all was right with the world and my legs felt great. Unfortunately within 30 minutes that feeling had vanished.
The last hour was a lot of things. Pleasant is not one of the words I'd use to describe it.
I figure I have about 750 TSS in the last 5 days and I'm starting to feel like one tired puppy. I can't wait to see how I feel in the morning.
Speaking of feeling good in the morning, how about riding all night long? Honestly Dave, I don't know how you do it. You're wired for the long haul. Me, I think I might should stick to TimeTrials.
Good Stuff
Excellent ride. What is your FTP these days?
Need to test
Thanks Bobber. I'm still feeling it today.
I have not tested in a long while, so I'm not absolutely certain where my FTP is currently. As you know it's one of those things where experience makes you a better estimator. I'm confident that if I tested myself I would see an FTP of about 270-275 watts.
I agree
I have been observing your numbers posted for some time wondering how low your FTP must be set in your training programs relative to your actual FTP.
With the numbers you are able to produce, I must believe that you either have your FTP underestimated, or you have a very low pain threshold....lets see that test baby! I would love to sit in and coach you through that suffer session.
There is no way I could rack up 700 points in a week right now...this year so far my biggest week is probably about half that much due to time and weather limiters....of course my estimates are not even developed with a PM!...gotta love pure speculation.
