I finally broke down and invested in a new pair of cycling shoes.
I've been having some foot problems in the past month or so. I've noticed a painful and slightly swollen area in the center of the ball of my foot. It's not a hot spot. I don't have any problems while riding. The problems are all when I'm not riding. Strange, eh?
At first I suspected the pedals. Then I suspected the shoes. I couldn't decide, pedals or shoes. I decided to invest in both. That way, I figured, I'd eliminate all possibilities.
I've already replaced the old pedals with new. I did that a week or so ago. I've been riding them with my old Sidis. Today I plan to get out for a shakedown cruise with the new cycling shoes to see how everything plays together.
One thing I can tell you straight off, these new shoes are noticeably stiffer in the sole than my old Sidi cycling shoes. Carbon fiber baby!
