I don't rightly know how to explain days like today. Some days you feel great and your performance is stellar. Other days not so good, and performance lags - to put it nicely. Then there are those cross over days when performance and perception are out of phase. Workouts or races where you feel terrific and somehow end up at the back of the pack are heartbreakers. Those when you're sure you don't have it, but exceed expectations are like winning the lottery. Today was a lottery winning day for me. If you'd have asked me how I was doing half way into my workout today I'd have said it would be OK but not great. At an hour I'd have reported that I expected it to be an average workout - nothing to write home about. This was not a record-setting day by any means, but it really helps the motivation to see decent numbers during a time when fitness is just so-so.
