I'm having a little bit of trouble acclimating to my new bike setup, so today I settled down for a nice, easy trainer session. I know, boring.
It's been 18 months wrestling with this pain; but I think I'm about to get a handle on it. The bad days are fewer and farther between. Even better, they don't seem to be as bad as they used to be. Maybe I'm getting used to it. Who can say? Whichever it is I'm finally, at long last, starting to feel more confident about riding for an extended period "in the drops".
As long as I don't try to generate too much power, that is.
When I really try to crank out the watts, things start to go bad. That's the bad news. But good news can't be far away. I know the bike setup is good. It has taken me a very long time to realize a major part of my problem has been my balance. Not the side-to-side kind. The front / back kind. When I really want to lay down the watts my body wants to creep forward and my back wants to straighten. A few minutes' riding like that and I get a sharp reminder I'm doing it wrong.

I kid you not, by the time I get through all this I'll be an expert in bike fit and solid pedaling form. Whether I'll ever get my watts back remains to be seen.
