Long weekend?

Wow that went by in a hurry. Sunday night already! Two days is never enough for a weekend. Who ever it was who called a three-day weekend a long weekend was just plain wrong. I think three days is a bit on the short side of what a regular weekend should be. At only 2 days, this one didn't have nearly enough days in it. Here it is almost over and I'm just getting warmed up.

I rushed through Saturday's chores to head out on the road for some major sweating it up in the woods on Saturday afternoon. Unit and I stunk up the trails pretty good around Binder lake. The trails were dry as a bone, so dry I had to back off Unit's wheel by dozens of yards to let it settle. He kept slowing down to wait for me, but I'd just slow down more so I wouldn't have to breathe in so much dust.

Yeah, that's my story for why I wasn't keeping up with that maniac on his screaming Badger. That and the heat and the humidity. At ride time the temp in the truck read 101°, but it felt like 101.5° at least.

No question I was stinking it up out there. My leg's didn't find their rhythm util after about an hour's riding. By then however I was feeling pretty well worked over in my lower back, and the heat was taking it's toll. The good? Well the skills were there in fine form. I didn't break anything. When it's this hot in the woods, you gotta latch on to every little bit of goodness.

Isn't that about the time we switched bikes?

Seriously though, it was a great time. We need to do that more often.

Oh, and with the heat index it had to be at least 101.8.

Isnt this the truth!

Unit showed me up Friday night. This heat is a killer. And it doesnt seem to be looking any better this week. When its this hot and humid you have to look at the few good things. My technical aspect has been great, my endurance, um... well not so but it will come soon. We all need to plan a ride together soon. KC, STL, JC I dont much care, I'm planning on hitting Four Winds at the Lake some these next few weeks, thats always a great trail system too!
