Well here we are at the end of the three day weekend. It's been a good one. I think I need the rest that normal career type work provides. You know, the sedentary life of sitting at a desk or on an airplane or in a meeting. I can't say I'm ready to put my butt back on an airplane and go traveling again but that's exactly what I'll be doing starting tomorrow.
I don't think I can ever say it's a welcome break from riding but after these last three days I'd say a bit of recovery is in order. Unit and I followed Saturday's staccato hammerfest with a slightly shortened and slightly less intense version on Sunday. The trails were a little less slippery on Sunday despite the intermittent rain and humidity you could cut with an airfoil shaped down tube. The better traction made for more steady going, so the pace evened out some.
Today I didn't have time for a long ride so I settled for a little over an hour of rolling stuff on the road. Somewhere in the middle of it all I found a nice little up and down loop that took about three minutes to complete. The climb started out tame and pitched up the further it went. Just the ticket for a good burn. After 5 loops I called it a day and navigated home, the long way. After all, I had to mow the lawn today too.
I am with you...
I went out for a little spin today myself. Back to the trails for me though. A little under an hour did the trick for me...moderate pace, perfect weather, good trails.
I have an evening club ride scheduled for tomorrow night....last week there were about 20 people there. Hopefully, this week will be similar...many people and several different groups sorted by skill level....I am not sure which group I will try to ride with yet...guess I will have to see how I feel when I show up.
