Kurt Kinetic review

I don't make a habit of making product recommendations but every once in a while one comes along that screams out for one.

Have you ever bought something that everyone told you was "the best" and found out that while it may indeed be the best available, it is in reality just a little better than its competition? And the kicker is you paid top dollar for "the best" right? I mean, paying an extra ten percent for "the best" is OK, but if all you get is an incremental benefit then I sort of feel cheated. Some people feel paying that premium price imparts status. I'm the best. I deserve the best. So my money buys the best.

Now I don't know about you, but just don't go in for snobbery. I do not like paying even one dollar extra for bragging rights. When I pay extra, I want to get something truly special, something that delivers substantially more value for my investment.

That's what I found recently when I bought my new trainer. I have to tell you, this thing rocks. What is it, you ask? It's the Kurt Kinetic trainer (aff). I bought the AC Custom Pro model. It has the 18 lb. flywheel and a custom fill to match my weight. That way I get a power curve that more accurately tracks with my speed on the road.

I have tried several different types and brands of trainers. You better believe, none has ever come close to this one. I'll use it forever. Forever? Yes, that long. I know I will because this trainer is built to last that long, maybe longer. It is huge. It is heavy. It is a serious piece of workout equipment. The difference between the Kurt Kinetic fluid trainer and the others is visible. It is positively striking. Put it next to the other guys' product and you'll see what I mean. The Kurt Kinetic is built to stand up to more hammering than I will ever be able to put into it.

And hammer you can. It is quiet and smooth to ride. If I only had some virtual reality goggles with which to see the creamy smooth asphalt it feels like I'm riding on.

Yes, the Kurt Kinetic fluid trainers cost more. Trust me on this: It will be the last one you'll ever need to buy. If you want the best, this is it. The other trainers out there are built for cyclists who do not take indoor training seriously. If you're serious about your training then you should buy a serious tool for the job. This is one you won't mind paying a premium for, because when you get it you'll see that you really get a lot of extra value for your money.

My unqualified recommendation for anyone looking for a serious indoor trainer: Kurt Kinetic (aff).
