Guess my TSS

Mark EWERS's picture

First off, I hope my SRM PowerControl is OK. I didn't think it was time to charge the little guy. He died just over 52 minutes into my training session today. The screen went blank and my computer beeped, the SRM Online software telling me it wasn't getting a signal through and could I please check for a problem.

Seems like I just charged it too...

So that's where my data is. Hopefully nice and safe, at least the first 52 minutes' worth. The rest of my power data - and I really don't know how much longer I rode - is gone. It was never recorded in the first place.

Given that I don't know and won't be able to learn my TSS score from this ride I thought it might be good to make a game of it. The game is Guess My TSS. How good are you at eyeballing a power chart and estimating TSS?

You need to have some rough idea of FTP to get into the TSS ballpark. That's what the fuzzy light blue line is. That's roughly my FTP right now. OK, done laughing? Just remember I'm old and I'm injured. Not only that but my bike's a poor fit, but that's another story.

So take your best shot. I'll download in the morning and announce the winner. Prize? Sure. I'll set you up with a free account here and hold you in high esteem for an unspecified period of time.

Maybe 60 or 65.

Are those L6 intervals? When

Are those L6 intervals? When I do those they count for more stress than TSS shows. You won't have a real high TSS from that workout but unless you are somehow able to do high intensity stuff and recover really quickly you might feel those more than what TSS shows. I'd give it 70+/-

I'll be surprised if you get

I'll be surprised if you get more than about 60TSS from that workout.

Good Observation.

I did a 3x4 set yesterday at about 10% above FTP. I just warmed up for about 20 minutes and then hit it follwed by a cool down of 10 minutes. My TSS was only about 59 but my legs were a bit tired so it felt like more than 59 as others are saying.

66?

The concensus seems to be in the 60 to 70 range. I pick 66.
