Good Friday night ride

The 25 or 30 of us who braved the return of winter cold had a terrific time last night at Castlewood. I can't really blame folks for staying in. This winter weather in spring seems so much colder than it did when it really was cold. That's what a few days in the 60's and 70's will do for you. All the same, last night was a good Friday night out for those of us who hadn't yet packed away our winter gear.

Trail conditions out at Castlewood were just about stellar last night. They were smooth and fast with only a few spots where the water hasn't completely drained away. They opened the park from 9pm to midnight for the ride. I had planned to ride the full three hours and had my trail loops all laid out for a three-hour tour (a three-hour tour...) I'll give credit to the fast trail conditions for finishing over 30 minutes early.

My legs and back were - still are - sore from my strength workout Thursday so I can't claim to have gone that much faster because I was producing more power. Fact was, my legs, back, arms... everything was on fire most of the night. Hammering helped keep the cold out.

This is what the parking lot looked like when I arrived. It's also what it looked like when I packed up to go home. I think Team Seagal was there but I'm not entirely sure. We'll have to wait to see if Casey and the crew post up about their exploits.

What do you think? Not the most flattering picture ever taken of me, eh? Hey you can thank me for taking a quick swipe under my nose before I snapped it.
