I think the judges in this week's velonews.com photo contest have a problem. Judging is usually a process of separating the one or two gems from all the others and picking the better of the two. Usually there aren't even two that stand out. Usually the contest is full of shots like the one of an MS150 rider no-handing it in a pace line. Not this time.
I think they'll have a hard time choosing between a few notable entries this week.
Take for instance Josh. You know this guy was a knucklehead, but you couldn't help but love him. Read the story. You'll see what I mean. It's not much of a photo. The story's the thing.
Then there's this guy. Don't bother to look if you don't have a moment to stop and think, because it will.
And finally, this one, which looks a lot like something I've seen in National Geographic. Maybe this is just how photos turn out in Utah. I'm going to have to go and find out one of these days.
Yeah, I'm glad I'm not the one to have to judge this week's contest.
Place your bets. Me, I'm going with the MS150 guy as the odds-on favorite to break a collarbone.
Did you see this?
I made a point to check back on this and you were right. Two out of the three pictures you wrote about were the winners. Dude they couldn't decide and called it a draw.
