What to do this weekend. That's the question of the day for me.
It's Friday morning and just as I figured, the legs have recovered nicely from yesterday's getting to know you again ride. Overall I'm still a bit tired but once this old body gets around some coffee and starts to warm up a bit it won't seem too bad. So I have options. I can dial it up a notch or two today and begin the process of pushing myself into the negative zone, or I can layer on a little more recovery in anticipation of the events of this coming weekend.
I'm anticipating the possibility of at least two really kick yer booty riding opportunities this weekend. The more assured of the two will be a spirited group ride which will probably go more miles than I really want to, but somewhere along the line I'll talk myself into it and suffer greatly because of it. The less likely but very possible is with visiting family. My brother may bring his family to town for part of the weekend. If he does he'll bring his 29'er and punish me with it up and down the nastiest trails we have around here.
I'm just glad he doesn't trash talk me too much. I know he's just looking after his older brother and I should invite the full treatment. The truth is he's in a different league altogether on the MTB and I'm grateful for the mentoring.
Either way by Tuesday, go back to work day, I plan to be bouncing along the bottom with enough near-term TSS to stop a buffalo.
